The MIT Program in Women's and Gender Studies will convene an interdisciplinary symposium examining the intersections between gender studies and food studies, as well as the multifaceted roles played by men and women historically in the global production, distribution, and consumption of food, and in the contemporary food movement. Symposium themes will include food and identity in the context of migration and globalization; sustainability and food science; food and entrepreneurship; and food in the literary and historical archive. The symposium will also include a film screening and a hands-on workshop.
