The Problems Peculiar to Girls: Black Sorority Women and the Vocational Guidance Movement in Chicago, 1927-1940." Journal of Illinois History 14 (2011): 185-206.

This article examines African-American women's outreach to girls in Chicago during the Great Migration period. I argue that Black women's vocational guidance outreach was not only a means of helping girls but also asserting women's professional identities.
